passion guidebook | sushi | 2021
The goal for this project was to create a guidebook for something I was passionate about. I chose to create a guidebook for the best sushi restaurants in San Diego. The book had to include a map or diagram with related pages of information accompanying it. After the book was made, an app that was related to the book was created.
process
To begin this project, I started by creating digital sketches that mapped out the layout of my guidebook. I knew that I wanted to include a table of contents, map of San Diego, and restaurant features, and based my design around that.
The fonts that I chose for this project are Bungee for the display type and Bilo for the body text. For the display type, I chose Bungee because wanted something that represented the theme of my book. As for the body text, I chose Bilo because it was a clean sans serif that had some fun elements to it.
I chose to keep the colors for this book very simple. I wanted to use black, white, and red-orange to represent the main ingredients used in sushi. The white and red-orange also represent the colors used in the Japanese flag.
